Dr. Michael Drane
Live from Seattle, Washington Dr. Michael Drane is the host and creator of Doctor Psycho Podcast. He graduated with honors from Arizona State University with a Bachelors in Psychology. Shortly after, he received his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adams State University in 2015. In 2022 he graduated with a Doctorate in Clinical Education and Supervision at Antioch University, Seattle.
Having served in the mental health field since 2008, he specializes in serious mental illnesses like Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Conduct Disorder, and Psychopathic Behavior. His background in forensics as a psychotherapist for the criminally insane fuels the professional content on this podcast.
Presently, Michael maintains a private practice in Seattle, WA. He spends much of his time mentoring young clinicians on subjects such as Abnormal Psychology, Psycho-diagnostics & Treatment Planning, Psychopathology, Developmental Psychology, and Counseling Theory.
Michael is a “Self-Afflicted Musician” and writes and performs all of the music that you hear on Unpopular Culture.

On October 11th 2016, we were born as Unpopular Culture Podcast as a singular goal: to bring truthful psychology and forensic science into a world constantly spewing misinformation. The rabbit hole of human existence is vast, but our podcast is dedicated to exploring the seedy underbelly of society. We dive into the weird and morose, the dreadful and the beautiful, to bring you the full, unadulterated picture. Drawing on psychology, sociology, and forensics, we explore true stories of serial killers, psychopaths, stalkers, and cult leaders. We also examine bizarre social phenomena while providing mental health education and advocacy for the public.
In 2023 UPC was reborn as Doctor Psycho Podcast. This was done to rebrand the podcast to more reflect the values and education of Dr. Michael Drane.
