I was sitting at a Panera Bread tonight, alone, lost in thought. The dining room was mostly full and I could feel the presence of people all around me. That’s about when this weird feeling came over me, and something compelled me to look up from my soup. Every single person around me was lost in the screen of their phone or laptop. Groups of people sitting together, but not being together. I often wonder where the rabbit hole ends. What does our Technology Addiction look like in 20 years?

Technology addiction — sometimes called Internet addiction, Internet use disorder (IUD) or Internet addiction disorder (IAD) — is a fairly new phenomenon. It’s often described as a serious problem involving the inability to control use of various kinds of technology, in particular the Internet, smartphones, tablets and social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
3. Smartphone Addiction
With every passing day, technology is overtaking our daily lives. Regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, career or economic status, you’re probably packing a smartphone right now. In fact, 56 percent of all Americans own one. The phone, computer, tablet and other high tech devices have become not just an object, but for many a best friend.
